The Hasty Pudding Theatricals Announces Cynthia Erivo As 2025 Woman Of The Year

The Hasty Pudding Theatricals will honor icon Cynthia Erivo at the annual Woman of the Year celebration. This fall, Erivo touched all with her breathtaking performance as Elphaba in Universal's Wicked: Part One. Her ability to convey raw emotion extends across a breadth of art forms. Her impact can be measured on Broadway, where she got her explosive start in The Color Purple, on television series like Poker Face, on films like Drift, and on the stage as a Grammy-winning recording artist. A worthy favorite amongst critics, Erivo has earned Grammy, Emmy, and Tony Award-wins as well as Academy Award, Golden Globe, BAFTA, and SAG nominations.

Erivo marks The Pudding's historic 75th Woman of the Year, joining an exclusive list of powerhouses like Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway, Kerry Washington, and Annette Bening. The celebrations honor Erivo's expressive and inspiring performances that remind audiences across the globe of the power of media.

Erivo's impact extends beyond the screen, with her production efforts leading underrepresented storytellers to the forefront. In 2020, Erivo launched her production company, Edith’s Daughter, which focuses on projects that express the beauty in the stories and people who are often overlooked.

The Hasty Pudding Theatricals will host a celebratory roast for Erivo on February 5th at 7:00pm, after which she will be presented with her Pudding Pot at Farkas Hall, the Hasty Pudding’s historic home in Harvard Square since 1888. A press conference will follow the presentation at 7:20pm. Afterwards, Erivo will attend a performance of the Hasty Pudding Theatricals’ 176th production, 101 Damnations.
