Earlier today I had the honor of speaking with Claudio Simonetti, legendary composer for Dario Argento’s horror classic, Suspiria, to discuss his upcoming fall tour with Goblin performing the iconic soundtrack. Tickets are available below for November 8th at the Somerville Theatre, as well as a limited amount of incredible VIP packages we’re sure you’ll enjoy!
MK - What is it about the film Suspiria that has fascinated viewers since its release in 1976, and what are your thoughts on the 2018 remake starring Dakota Johnson?
CS - Surely the great success of Suspiria was the setting and the fascinating story of the dance school run by the witches, a novelty at that time. Luciano Tovoli's photography and our music then added great value to the film. Certainly one of Dario Argento's most successful works.
Honestly, I didn't like Guadagnino's remake at all despite the excellent performance of the actors. It was a very risky project to do a remake of an iconic film like Argento's Suspiria, I honestly don't understand why he did it.
MK - Can you share a few details on what attendees can expect from the current tour?
CS - We have already toured in 2018 with Suspiria in the USA with great success. The film is much loved, it is certainly the most famous Silver film in the world. This year for its 45th anniversary we have decided to repeat the tour and we expect the same success. We love playing in the States very much, we always find a great audience who love genre films and music, it is a great pleasure to come back in Boston again.
A big hello to everyone in Boston, see you very soon.
