Come for the ice cream, stay for the coffee.

You want coffee, but your mate wants ice cream. No problem. Head over to one of the numerous J.P. Licks in and around the Boston area.

Known predominantly as an ice cream parlor, this diamond in the rough brews a solid cup of coffee along with a lovely espresso profile. I had a great latté.

Over 20 years ago, the Boston chain Coffee Connection was bought out by the behemoth Starbucks. J.P. Licks saw this as an opportunity to fill the void and started roasting their own coffee. Roasted on premises in Jamaica Plain, they use Fair Trade and Organic Certified beans. Besides ice cream and coffee, you can have a breakfast sandwich, croissant, cookie or other baked goods. Next time you pass this hidden gem that is J.P. Licks, step inside for a lick and sip.
