The rapper was born in Queens, New York. At the young age of 12, music started to gradually take over his childhood dream of becoming a basketball player. Tecca started his rap career in 2016 with the release of his song “Don”, but he gained a lot of attention and popularity with his release of the song “Ransom” in 2019. This song changed his life; the song quickly jumped to the 4th spot on Billboard's Top 100. His debut album has now reached 3 billion streams.  The song was so popular that as I scroll to my oldest playlists on Spotify the song is at the top of every playlist I made in 2019. After the release of “Ransom,” Tecca continued to release chart-topping songs. He quickly gained such popularity that prominent artists readily agreed to be featured on his songs such as Nav, Lil Uzi Vert, Polo G, Lil Durk, Gunna, and Trippie Red. Tecca has now released his latest album “TEC” in late 2023 and is showcasing songs from the album in his Hvn On Earth Tour.

The concert was sponsored by the Monster Energy Outbreak Tour, which showcases the biggest new names in music, those having a cultural impact, and are at a breakthrough moment in their careers. It was an exciting line-up with up-and-coming artists SoFaygo, tana, Chow Lee, and Boston’s own Rich Amiri leading up to multi-platinum headliner Lil Tecca. It was an amazing night of talent to photograph.  Despite being a Sunday night, the energy in the room was wild. When I asked someone leaving the concert how they felt about the show, the concert attendee said, “I was expecting it to be a chill crowd, but it was one of the craziest Hip-Hop shows I’ve been to in the Boston area!” The audience was filled with many young faces, both male and female. The set was one of the coolest sets I've seen recently. The stage was bordered with chain link fences topped with barbed wire, and statues behind the gates with lights shining down on them. It was also plastered with Monster Energy logos highlighting the sponsors of the tour. Lil Tecca himself was very energetic, running around the stage, jumping around with fast paced flashing lights to accompany the electric energy he was giving off. He played a range of songs, some from his earlier albums, but more than the usual one or two songs that artists usually play from newly released albums. Songs off his new album included  “500Ilbs”, “Gist,” “Dead or Alive,” and “Down With Me” and were major hits with the audience.

Warm up artist Sofaygo

The warm ups from the tour were also impressively large artists. Chow Lee was up first. Rich Amiri was next. The audience really enjoy the Boston born artist, which is exciting since Amiri is starting his first headline tour shortly. Rich Amiri is the most promising artist on this list, he recently released a song “One Call” which made his Spotify monthly listeners spike up to 10 million. Tana was the next to perform his many popular songs, many that shot to popularity from TikTok. And the last in the lead-up to Lil Tecca was Sofaygo, who was affiliated with Travis Scott’s “Cactus Jack” music label until recently. If the tour is coming to your area and you want to see some really cool upcoming artists, and you like Lil Tecca, I highly suggest going to this concert.
